The City of Oshawa is located approximately 60km east of downtown Toronto and is the largest municipality in the Regional Municipality of Durham.
Oshawa's roots are tied to the automobile industry, specifically to General Motors, was once recognized as the Automobile Capital of Canada with the nickname of "Canada's Motor City". Oshawa has now become a education and health science hub and is home to three post-secondary institutions: Durham College, Trent University Durham and Ontario Tech University.
The population of Oshawa is 175,383 (2021 census).
