The City of Peterborough is located on the Otonabee River in Central Ontario. It is located 125km northeast of Toronto and about 270km southwest of Ottawa.
It is known as the gateway to the Kawarthas "cottage country".
The City is a diversified and active community with a population of 83,561 (2021 census).
Transportation
Public Transit is run by Peterborough Transit. They have a total of 12 regular and 5 express routes.
Peterborough is served by provincial highway 115 which connects the city to Toronto via Highway 401 and Highway 407 (toll). Other provincial highways important to Peterborough are Highway 7A which junctions onto Highway 115 just southwest of the city and highway 28.

The Peterborough City Council is comprised of the Mayor and 10 Councillors. There are 2 Councillors for each of the 5 city wards.

The Peterborough Farmers Market operates year round every Saturday morning with the sale of fresh produce and crafts from local farmers and residents. Held in the parking lot between May and November, the market moves inside the Morrow Building for the winter months.
Peterborough Downtown Farmers’ Market
Sale of fresh produce from local farmers along with fresh baked goods, preserves, flowers, etc. The Market is held on Charlotte Street between Water and George Streets from 9am to 2pm every Wednesday from Victoria Day to Thanksgiving.
