All About Fernie

The City of Fernie, BC is located in the Elk Valley area of the East Kootenay region of south-eastern BC. Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, this small, quaint coal mining/ski town and close knit community is an ideal place to live. Fernie serves as the regional centre for many Elk Valley communities.

 

The 2021 census showed the population of Fernie at 6,320 residents but this number can double during ski season.

 

The City of Fernie is governed by a Mayor and Six Councilors
