All About Langley

The City of Langley, also known as Langley City, is a municipality in the Metro Vancouver Region.  Located directly east of the City of Surrey, in the heart of the Lower Mainland economic region, it is a gateway to the rapidly growing Fraser Valley region.

The City of Langley, with a population of approximately 27,000, offers its residents all the amenities of a major urban centre.

The Government of Canada, the Province of BC and Translink have committed to extend Metro Vancouver’s fixed rapid transit system to connect to Langley City.

Langley has some of the most affordable housing prices in Metro Vancouver and is predominantly a family-orientated community with 81% of the population designated as families.  There are six distinct neighbourhoods, name after and delineated by existing elementary school catchment areas.  The neighbourhoods are:

Nicomekl and Douglas (Northern Neighborhoods) – The Nicomekl and Douglas neighbourhoods are separated from the rest of the City by the Nicomekl River Floodplain and trail system. These two neighbourhoods have experience the most growth and development over the past several years.

Simonds, Alice Brown, Blacklock and Uplands (Southern Neighborhoods) – these neighbourhoods predominantly feature single family, detached homes, and extensive parks and trails.  Most of these neighbourhoods were constructed in the 1970s and 80s.

Langley City Council consists of a mayor and six councillors. Their role is to oversee the delivery of local services, facilities, safety and infrastructure.  \
