The City of Port Coquitlam is located in the lower mainland of British Columbia just east of Vancouver. It is located on the north bank of the confluence of the Fraser River and the Pitt River. Port Coquitlam is bordered by Coquitlam on the north, the Coquitlam River on the west and the Pitt River to the east.
Port Coquitlam is part of the Tri-Cities along with Coquitlam, Port Moody and the villages of Anmore and Belcarra. It is often referred to as "PoCo".
The population of Port Coquitlam is 148,625 residents (2021 census)

Government
The City of Port Coquitlam is governed by an elected Mayor and six elected Councillors. City Council is responsible for local government leadership and decision making in the City. Elections are held every four years.

Port Coquitlam promotes a healthy and active lifestyle with many indoor and outdoor opportunities. Options include recreation centres with pools and arenas, sports fields, outdoor pools, the 25-km Traboulay PoCo Trail and free trailside gym stations.

Hyde Creek is a completely renovated aquatics complex offering a lap pool, leisure pool, river run, water slide, sauna, whirlpool, steam room, racquetball courts, gymnasium, weight and fitness room, dance studio, martial arts studio, and youth centre.
