All About Lloydminster

The City of Lloydminster has the unusual geographic distinction of straddling a provincial border between Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Lloydminster is not a pair of twin cities on opposite sides of a border with the same name, but is actually incorporated as a single city with a single municipal administration.

According to the 2021 municipal census the population of Lloydminster is 36,508.

Meridian Avenue (50 Avenue) marks the centre of Lloydminster and the provincial border. All addresses east of Meridian Avenue are considered to be a part of Saskatchewan while all addresses west of Meridian Avenue belong to Alberta.

Alberta law requires the use of daylight-saving time, while Saskatchewan does not observe daylight saving time. Lloydminster's charter allows it to follow Alberta's use of daylight-saving time on both sides of the provincial border; this places the city in the Mountain Time Zone and synchronizes clocks with those of Alberta

The Lloydminster weather is cold and temperate. There is significant rainfall throughout the year. Winters are cold and dry, while summers are warm and moderately wet. Local up to date weather can be found by visiting http://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/ab-15_metric_e.html
